Greenwood to purchase radar guns with grant

Follow Daily Journal:

A federal grant will buy more radar guns that Greenwood officers will use to catch speeders.

The Greenwood Police Department is getting a nearly $20,000 federal grant, which it will share with the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office.

The police department plans to use its $11,929 portion of the grant to buy equipment such as radar guns, Officer Jason Grable said.

Since the sheriff’s office provides jail space for people Greenwood police officers arrest, the sheriff’s office will get $7,953 of the grant, he said.
