A Greenwood man died after crashing into a interstate bridge support, and police are still trying to find out what caused the accident.
Indiana State Police identified the man as Paul Summers, 46, who died after the accident that happened about 5 p.m. Wednesday.
Summers was going north on Interstate 465 and was heading onto the ramp to get on Interstate 74 East. Police said he didn't make right right-hand turn onto the ramp, instead going off the road into a grassy median and then crashed into the concrete support, according to a news release from Indiana State Police.
Summers didn't appear to have tried to brake or swerve to miss the support, witnesses told police. Summers was the only person in the car.
Police don't know what caused Summers to drive off the road, Indiana State Police Sgt. Rich Myers said.
An autopsy was being conducted Thursday and could help investigators pin down a cause, he said.
