The Greenwood Freedom Festival children’s and main parades will step off at 10 a.m. Saturday in downtown Greenwood.
For the children’s parade, kids can bring their bicycles decorated in patriotic colors to ride and lead the main parade.
The parade route will start at the Greenwood Middle School on Madison Avenue, travel north along Madison to Broadway, turn east on Broadway to Meridian and then follow Meridian south back to the middle school parking lot.
Parade line-up begins at 8 a.m. at Greenwood Middle School, 523 S. Madison Ave. The children’s parade will start at 10 a.m. with the main parade immediately following.
All streets and intersections on or immediately leading to the parade route on Madison Avenue and Meridian Street will be shut down by 9:30 a.m. and will reopen at about 11:30 a.m.
Motorists heading westbound on Main Street from the interstate should take Emerson Avenue north to County Line Road or take the Smith Valley bypass west to U.S. 31.
