A football, beads and pennants have Ben Franklin looking more festive than usual.

The Franklin College public relations department decorated the campus statue this week in honor of the Super Bowl.

Decorating the nearly 50-year-old statue is a campus tradition, and Super Bowl week was a perfect time to dress up old Ben, public relations director Deidra Baumgardner said.

“We were just trying to keep in the spirit of the Super Bowl. We have a lot of visitors in town and just wanted to extend an invitation and let them be a part of one of our traditions,” she said.
