Getting to Know: Sarah estes




Sarah Estes is a senior at Roncalli High School.

She is a drum major for the marching band, plays trombone, bass, piano and guitar. She is also on the school’s Brain Game team and is a member of the Indianapolis Youth Chorale.

Reporter Magen Kritsch recently asked her the following

questions:

Why did you want to be a drum major?

I wanted to be drum major because the drum majors before me made it seem to be a very enjoyable experience — which it is!

Name one thing you learned from being a drum major.

One thing I’ve learned over the past two years of being drum major is that everyone is talented in their own way. Some kids may not be the best in their section, and some may not march the best, but all of them are very enthusiastic and bring something special to the band

What television show is a must watch for you?

“The Big Bang Theory”

How many pairs of shoes do you own?

Far too many to count. More than 20.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

I hope to go to Purdue to study physics, and in 10 years be doing something in the way of research.

What is your favorite type of music to play?

I love playing jazz, especially on the trombone.

What is your favorite school subject?

My favorite subject is physics; I find it really challenging and enjoyable. I like learning how the universe works.

What is the last movie you saw in theaters?

“The Conjuring”

What is the worst movie you have seen in theaters?

“Oz the Great and Powerful”

Do you have a secret

talent? If so, what is it?

I am surprisingly good at

hula-hooping

If you have an hour of free time, what are you most likely to do?

Pick up a good book.
