Fundraising campaign to help park memorial

Donations made to the veterans memorial at Proctor Park in New Whiteland.

Patriot Tactical, a military supply company, will match up to $2,500 of sponsorship donations made before the Sept. 27 dedication ceremony at the park.

The company already has donated $1,000. Patriot Tactical also is donating several silent auction items for the event and will have a table set up during registration for the Welcome Home Ride fundraiser from 9 a.m. to noon Sept. 27 at Southside Harley-Davidson. Items include infrared scopes and shotguns.

Anyone who makes a donation of $250 or more until Sept. 1 will have his or her name or company name on the T-shirts for the ride. Patrons can purchase yard signs for $25, which will be displayed at both the Otte Golf Family Fun Day on Sept. 14 and the ceremony on Sept. 27.

So far, organizers have raised nearly $22,000 for the park’s memorial, plus an additional $2,000 in funding through the Johnson County Community Foundation.

The fundraising goal is $30,000, and if donations exceed that amount, the additional money will go toward improvements at Proctor Park, including lighting and other amenities.
