Franklin toy store moving to Jefferson Street

A Franklin toy store is moving back to Jefferson Street after four years away.

Imagination Station will relocate this summer to the corner of West Court and Jefferson streets, which was most recently occupied by Federal Plumbing and Piping. The store will open at its new location on Aug. 6, the first day of school, with a reopening celebration planned for that weekend, owner Debi Pierson said.

Anna’s Style Boutique and Eclection, which both share space with Imagination Station, also will move to the new location.

The toy store used to be located on East Jefferson Street before moving to its current location at 198 N. Main St. about four years ago, Pierson said. The downtown has grown since the shop was last on Jefferson Street, so Pierson expects to get more customers during evening events downtown or while visiting other Franklin shops during the day.

“There are so many new shops and places to eat, and that area is really coming alive. We’re excited to be back on that main strip,” she said.

Construction on North Main Street hurt business at the shop last year, but the location also has attracted people who use King Street to bypass downtown stoplights, she said.

The new building has about the same amount of floorspace as the Main Street location, Pierson said. But the shop will be able to open up the garage doors for parties or events so people can get a better look into what’s happening inside, she said.
