Follow Daily Journal:

Franklin police are looking for a man who robbed a convenience store at gunpoint Thursday evening.

A man walked into the Village Pantry at 927 Walnut St. about 7:40 p.m., pointed a large semiautomatic handgun at the clerk and demanded cash. The man then left the store with money and cigarettes, Franklin Police Department Detective Scott Carter said.

The man was last seen heading east from the convenience store, and Johnson County police dogs tracked him for about three blocks before losing his scent. He was described as 5 feet, 10 inches tall, thin, in his 20s, with brown hair, Carter said.

Anyone with any information on the robbery is asked to call Franklin police at 346-1111 or Crime Stoppers at 262-8477.
