A downtown Franklin gas station was robbed at gunpoint for the second time in four months.
Two men went into the Admiral Gas Station, 237 W. Jefferson St., pointed a gun at the clerk and demanded money around 11:15 p.m. Wednesday. The clerk handed over cash to the men, who then left the station and ran north into an alley, according to a Franklin Police Department news release.
Police tried to track the men with a police dog, but the dog was able to track for only about a block, Lt. Kerry Atwood said. Police think the men had a car parked nearby and drove away after robbing the store.
The robbers both had their faces covered. One was tall and slender, wearing a yellow and black hooded sweatshirt. The other was about 5-foot-8 with a medium build, wearing a camouflage jacket, the release said.
Anyone with information about the robbery should call Franklin Detective Adam Joseph at 346-1145.
The gas station also was robbed Oct. 3 by one man who stole money and cigarettes.
