SPRINGFIELD, Ohio
Franklin College held Wittenberg to just
three points in the final nine minutes to post
a 49-37 women’s basketball win Tuesday.
The Grizzlies, who trailed by as many as
three points five minutes into the contest,
took control and built a six-point lead at 27-21
at halftime.
After the break, Franklin (7-3) led by eight
points on four occasions before the Tigers
whittled the deficit to three at 37-34 with 9:38
remaining. Franklin outscored Wittenberg
12-3 the rest of the way.
Franklin College sophomore forward
Nichole Thompson, a Greenwood Community
High School graduate, hit 8 of 13 shots
to lead all scorers with 17 points off the
bench.
Junior forward Krista Schott added nine
points, seven rebounds, five assists and three
blocks with senior center Jess Prewett contributing
a game-best 10 rebounds.
The Grizzlies will be off until Dec. 29 when
they host Benedictine University.
