Averaging 22.5 points and scoring a career-high 31 points in the final week of the regular season, Franklin College senior Terry Sargent has been honored with the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference men’s basketball Player of the Week Award.
Sargent, a guard, had strong performances against the two conference co-champions last week. He closed out the regular season with a career-high 31 points at Defiance College on Saturday. He made 11 of his 14 shots in the game, including 7 of 9 3-point field goals.
Sargent scored 14 points and made 6 of 8 shots from the floor against Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in the senior night game Feb. 19.
For the week, he averaged 22.5 points and 5.5 rebounds; made 77.3 percent of his field-goal attempts; and made 77.8 percent of his 3-point shots.
