Follow Daily Journal:

Franklin College senior Chris Hoopingarner helped the Grizzlies secure the No. 4 seed in this week’s HCAC Tournament and has been named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week for the second time.

Hoopingarner recorded a career-high 11 strikeouts and allowed just one unearned run in eight innings as the Grizzlies beat Bluffton 10-1 on May 2. The lefthander earned his seventh win of the season, allowing just two extra base hits in the outing.

Franklin (24-15, 15-10 HCAC) opens the HCAC Tournament at Manchester on Thursday.
