The Kiwanis Club of Franklin celebrated 66 years of Rural Life awards in late November.
Ten-year youth members Brandon Rice and Danielle Burris were honored with Rural Life Award plaques, as well as adult leaders Brian Southern and Melissa Veenhuizen.
Veenhuizen has served as a 4-H leader for Horse and Pony Club for eight years and assists with workshops, open riding times and club meetings. She works in various capacities at the 4-H project fair.
Southern has worked as a leader for Bright Futures 4-H Club for five years, has been a 4-H council member for four years, has served as an assistant for Magill Hall during judging/fair week and assists with the project fair.
Burris has been a 4-H ambassador, 4-H council representative and honor group member and has been in Hoosier Hot Shots. She has other achievements to her name.
Rice has been a part of 4-H Hoof Prints and has been an active Horse and Pony member and officer, a 4-H Ambassador and 4-H camp counselor. He has numerous other achievements through 4-H.
