Firefighters recognized for years of service

Multiple firefighters were honored for their years of service and duties.

The White River Township Fire Department gives the awards annually to honor firefighters nominated by their peers for their excellent work. Managers within the fire department, including Chief Jeremy Pell, select the recipients from among the peer nominees.

Here is a look at the awards:

Officer of the year: Lt. Ryan Cox

Firefighter of the year: Engineer Corey McGaha

Paramedic of the year: Paramedic Leslie Cuma and engineer/paramedic Mike Combs

EMT of the year: Firefighter/EMT Colby Long

Chief’s Vision Award: Staff officer of life safety education Craig Zollars and Lead mechanic Jeff Bowden

5 years of service: Bryan Baker, Kyle Bundy, Karl Crist, Tyler Derringer, Matt Oakley, Christopher Pelley, Brandon Shireman, Randy Becker, Charles Belden, Paul Cloyd, Mitchell Combs, Joel Heavner, Craig Lutz, Dustin O’Neal and Benjamin Patterson

10 years of service: Bryan Arkins, Ray Denson, Joe Green, Mike Boone and Justin Walls

15 years of service: Jason

Bailey, Michael Combs and Brian McRoberts

2013 Promotions: Capt. Nick Alford, Lt. Jason Bailey, Capt. Joe Green, Chief of Training Dale Saucier, Deputy Fire Marshal Kevin Skipper and Battalion Chief Jeff Wilson

Recognized for saving a heart attack victim using CPR: Johnson County reserve sheriff’s deputy Kristine Dunn
