Filing opens for county’s school board ballot

Follow Daily Journal:

Residents who want to become school board members can now file to have their name on the ballot.

So far, five current school board members are seeking another term.

Voters will select candidates in the fall election to fill some positions on boards in all six Johnson County public school districts.

Candidates serve four-year terms and don’t have to declare a party to run for school board.

The deadline to file for a school board position is Aug. 22.

Current board members from Center Grove, Clark-Pleasant and Greenwood have already filed.

Center Grove school board members Adam Norman, Jack Russell and Scott Alexander filed for re-election to their at-large seats on the five-member board.

Jack Napier filed for re-election to the Greenwood Community Schools District 2 school board seat, and John Venter filed for re-election to the Pleasant Township seat on the Clark-Pleasant school board.
