A father and daughter from Indianapolis were hospitalized after an accident near Franklin.

John Nims, 33, Indianapolis, was headed south and struck a truck that was backing up on U.S. 31, just south of County Road 250S about 5 p.m. Tuesday. Delmar Graber, 60, of Cannelburg, told police he was preparing to drop off a load of lumber at a building site and was backing up on U.S. 31 when his vehicle was struck, according to the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office accident report.

Nims was flown to Indiana University Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis and was listed in serious condition Wednesday, hospital officials said.

Nims’ daughter, Ashlyn Nims, 6, was taken to Johnson Memorial Hospital and then transferred to Riley Hospital for Children at Indiana University Health in Indianapolis. She was in good condition Wednesday afternoon.
