An Indianapolis man is facing additional criminal charges after police said he gave them a false name at the jail.
William Adams, 26, gave police a false name when he was arrested Saturday after police said he tried to steal a TV from a Franklin store.
Now, he is facing additional charges of false reporting, forgery, identity deception and perjury.
When he was taken to the Johnson County jail on May 31, Adams told officers his name was Shea Piersall, Franklin Police Lt. Kerry Atwood said.
This week, another man showed up at the jail and told jail staff that he is Piersall and someone had stolen his identity, Atwood said.
Officers searched fingerprint records and found that Adams had given them the false name, Atwood said.
Adams, 1618 S. Villa Ave., was being held at the jail on $23,000 bond.
