Energy provider offers cash for old refrigerators

Follow Daily Journal:

Duke Energy customers who recycle refrigerators or freezers can get $50 from Duke Energy.

The company’s appliance recycling program encourages customers to have old refrigerators and freezers that are not energy efficient picked up free of charge.

In addition to the $50 incentive, increased from $30, participants can save up to $150 annually through lower household energy usage, according to a statement from the company.

Refrigerators and freezers must be in working condition and must be between 10 and 30 cubic feet in size. A check for $50 will arrive within four to six weeks. A maximum of two units per household per calendar year will be accepted.

To participate, call 855-398-6200, or visit duke-energy.com/recycle to schedule a time for a free home pickup.
