The county commissioners have approved hiring Stephanie Sichting as the new emergency management director.
Sichting has worked as an administrative assistant at the emergency management agency for 12 years and will take over for Forrest “Tug” Sutton when he retires Dec. 31, commissioner Tom Kite said.
Sutton has been the county emergency management director for 12 years.
The director is in charge of leading the county’s emergency management efforts in a disaster, such as a tornado or earthquake, and organizes training for emergency workers.
Kite said the commissioners
interviewed two candidates for the position and chose Sichting because she already has the requirements and certifications needed to fill the role.
“It was an easy decision because, as Tug said, she does an awesome job,” Kite said.
