For years, public officials and private individuals have talked about whether the Center Grove area should become a town.
The latest round of discussions has reached a critical stage, and it’s time for would-be town residents to speak up, to ask questions and express their opinions.
A group of residents who want to make part of unincorporated White River Township into a town will unveil the tax rate, budget and structure of a proposed town government at a meeting Tuesday. Residents can ask questions and offer feedback at the meeting.
That input could be used to refine a proposal, which the would-be town founders plan to bring to the Johnson County Commissioners this summer, Citizens for Center Grove board member Jody Veldkamp said. The commissioners also would have to conduct a public meeting and allow residents to comment before approving the proposal.
