Editorial: School adjusts to help struggling students

The beginning of the school year always is an exciting time — greeting old friends, meeting new ones and new teachers, and experiencing new classes.

But this year brings even more changes, and with it more challenges.

The first involves the school calendar. Clark-Pleasant and Edinburgh schools already are in session, and other districts will begin meeting over the next two weeks.

The new Clark-Pleasant and Edinburgh calendars are an attempt to balance the school year. For example, students will be on break for two weeks in October, December-January and late March.
