Grateful Hearts to the Franklin Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors for their efforts in making our member appreciation cookout run so smoothly. We feel so fortunate to have such a supportive board!

Forty seniors gathered at the Franklin Active Adult Center recently for The “Taste of Franklin,” an event that featured Bingo and prizes. Ice cream, pizza, sandwiches, soft drinks, bread sticks, spaghetti dinners and more were among the many prizes available. Hearts a’plenty go out to the Franklin restaurants that sponsored this fun event! Special thanks to Athens for donating the grand prize, Papa John’s for providing a delicious pizza lunch, and McDonald’s, our largest donor. Hearts also go to the many other generous prize donors as well! Space prohibits me from naming all, but you have our heartfelt thanks.

Darts to the Town of Bargersville. One of their snowplows hit and damaged my mailbox but they refused to replace it. Their response was, “We follow the same guidelines as Johnson County and Greenwood. Those are: If the mailbox post is intact, it is the homeowner’s responsibility to repair or replace.” Not sure what these guidelines are, but if I hit and damaged a neighbor’s mailbox, I certainly would pay to replace it. Unfortunately, the same rules don’t apply to government, which seems to be able to do whatever it wants to the citizens whose taxes support it.
