An Edinburgh man was taken to a hospital and then arrested after police said he jumped out of a second-story window.
Tommy Holderfield, 19, 720 S. Walnut St., was arrested on charges of possession or consumption of alcohol by a minor and criminal mischief.
He told his girlfriend he was going to kill himself after she told him she wanted to end the relationship, Edinburgh Police Chief David Mann said.
He broke the window about 2:30 a.m. then jumped out into the yard, knocking himself unconscious when he landed, Mann said. Holderfield had been drinking alcohol earlier in the evening, he said.
Holderfield was conscious when police arrived. Police took him to Columbus Regional Health for medical treatment after the incident.
He was released from the hospital a short time later and taken to the Bartholomew County jail, Mann said.
