Two Johnson County jail inmates and an inmate’s mother were arrested after police said the mother brought electronic cigarettes and drugs into the jail.
Rhonda Brown, 47, 20 Fairground St., Franklin, left three electronic cigarettes and three strips of the medication Suboxone in a candy wrapper in the public women’s restroom at the jail, Johnson County Sheriff Doug Cox said.
Patrick Woods, 24, of Bargersville, an inmate in the jail, cleaned the restroom and took the candy packet to give to Brown’s son, Steven Brown, 28, of Franklin, Cox said.
Deputies searched Woods after he cleaned the restroom and found the packet, according to a news release.
Rhonda Brown was arrested on a charge of trafficking with an inmate, the news release said.
The sheriff’s office also arrested Steven Brown on a charge of conspiracy to commit trafficking with an inmate and Woods on charges of trafficking with an inmate and possession of a controlled substance.
The case has been sent to the prosecutor’s office to review what, if any charges, should be filed.
