Due to a quirk in the calendar, a shorter-than-usual holiday season between Thanksgiving and Christmas leaves less time to shop for gifts, plan parties and bake Christmas cookies.

But organizers of the annual Good Cheer Fund are worried that the shortage will affect their ability to help the needy.

Campaign organizers are contending with an unusually short period of time to raise money before delivery of their annual Christmas food baskets. Though donations are coming in, chairman Jake Sappenfield is concerned that they will have to dip into emergency reserves to help pay for the 775 baskets they plan to distribute.
