If you haven’t paid your property taxes yet, you’ll need to make that payment by the end of the day Monday.
About half of county taxpayers haven’t paid their bills yet, Johnson County Treasurer Diane Edwards said. People who miss the Monday deadline will have to pay a late fee of 5 percent of their tax bill if they pay within 30 days or a 10 percent fee for any time after 30 days.
Here’s how to pay:
- In person: The Johnson County Treasurer’s Office is in the west annex, 86 W. Court St., Franklin. The office is open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
- At the bank: You can make payments at Johnson County branches of First Financial, First Merchants, First National, Heartland and MainSource banks. Payments must be made at branches located in Johnson County.
- By phone or online: Taxpayers can pay with a credit or debit card by calling 866-739-0463 or visiting www.johnsontax.net. If you pay with a credit or debit card, you’ll be charged a 2.95 percent fee.
