An Indian Creek High School graduate’s death after her vehicle went into an Indianapolis creek has been ruled an accident.
Miranda Dermanelian, 25, drove off the roadway near the intersection of Binford Boulevard and Allisonville Road in Indianapolis, crashing through a patch of trees and into Fall Creek.
She died March 14 from drowning, with opiate intoxication and crash injuries contributing to her death, Indiana Department of Resources spokesman Jet Quillen said. The department of natural resources investigated the accident.
Dermanelian was a 2007 graduate of Indian Creek High School and a former Morgantown resident. When she died, she was living in Indianapolis and working as a cosmetologist.
Interviewing Dermanelian’s family and boyfriend didn’t provide information on what may have caused the woman to crash, he said.
“We believe it’s totally accidental,” Quillen said.
Crashing through the trees and into the water caused head and chest injuries, he said. He declined to comment on the type of drugs found in her system.
