A man was arrested after police said his DNA was found during an investigation of a home burglary that happened a year ago in the Center Grove area.
Philip P. Fletcher, 43, Mooresville, was arrested on one county of burglary.
The homeowner in the 5800 block of State Road 135 told police in January 2013 that someone broke into the house and stole cash, digital cameras, jewelry, concert tickets, a safe, a lock box and personal documents.
Greenwood police found a hat left in the house and samples of dried blood in a vehicle that also had been broken into, the report said. The blood samples were sent for testing and matched Fletcher’s DNA in the Indiana offender database. Investigators collected a new DNA sample from Fletcher, who was being held at the Edinburgh Correctional Facility after a burglary conviction in Shelby County, and sent those for additional testing.
The results matched the DNA from both the blood and hair in the hat left at the home, the report said.
Fletcher, 295 Harrison St., was arrested on a warrant and taken to the Johnson County jail, where he was being held on $8,000 bond.
