A vacant home near Trafalgar was destroyed in a fire Monday morning.
The house, which had been vacant for about five years and had no utilities connected to it, was on County Road 525S, just west of Trafalgar. The Trafalgar Fire Department was called about the blaze about 8:45 a.m., Fire Chief Tom Tharpe said.
The blaze took about 40 minutes to extinguish, and no one was injured, Tharpe said. Fire departments from Morgantown, Nineveh and Bargersville also helped put out the fire.
The owner of the home didn’t have insurance for the two-story structure, and it’s unlikely fire officials will investigate the cause, Tharpe said.
“Just one of those unfortunate circumstances,” he said.
