Johnson County government has hired two new employees, including an assistant attorney and new museum director.
County commissioners selected Shena Wheeler as the new attorney who will assist county attorney Kathleen Hash and picked Carrie Birge as the new director of the Johnson County Museum of History.
Wheeler worked as an unpaid intern in the county attorney’s office in 2011 and already is familiar with the county and its legal office, Hash said. Johnson County Council members approved the new position in January to help reduce some of the workload being handled by Hash. Wheeler will be paid a salary of $42,500.
Birge was selected as the new museum director to replace Brenna Cundiff. Birge is from Jasper in Dubois County and will be paid a salary of $35,679.
