A 2-year-old got pinned under a car when he ran out to greet the driver, according to police.
Center Grove area resident Gavon Otero was going to a Center Grove area home near the Bluff Acres subdivision Tuesday afternoon. Xavier Arnold was excited to see her, ran out of the house and in front of the vehicle, according to a Johnson County Sheriff’s Office report.
He became pinned under the passenger side wheel, the report said.
His mother was unable to pull him free, according to the report. Otero backed the car up, and they waited for medics to arrive, the report said.
The boy complained of pain to his hip and upper leg, according to a report. The injury wasn’t incapacitating, Johnson County Sheriff Doug Cox said.
The child was taken by ambulance to Riley Hospital for Children at Indiana University Health in Indianapolis, where he was treated and released, spokesman Gene Ford said.
The accident took place about 5 p.m. Tuesday in a driveway in the 1000 block of North State Road 37 in White River Township.
