Charity walk benefits hepatitis support group

The ARK, a local hepatitis C support group, is hosting the first Walk for Hepatitis C on May 18 at Southland Community Church in Greenwood.

The walk benefits the nonprofit networking and support organization designed to reach out to those battling Hepatitis C as well as their family and friends with support programs and educational initiatives.

Registration for the walk begins at 8:30 a.m. Southland Community Church, 5800 W. Smith Valley Road, Greenwood. The opening ceremony program will begin at 10 a.m., and the walk will begin immediately afterward.

The event coincides with the May observance of National Hepatitis Awareness Month. Chronic hepatitis C can result in long-term health problems, including liver or failure, liver cancer or even death.
