The Greater Greenwood Chamber of Commerce honored six outstanding businesspeople and companies at its annual Chamber Celebration this month. The chamber presents the awards to recognize outstanding business achievement among other accomplishments.

Mike Kensill of Lee & Associates Real Estate Services was named Ambassador of the Year. Garnet Vaughan of The Marketing Department was awarded Member of the Year. Randy Faulkner and Associates received a Pride and Progress Award. Pilsung ATA Martial Arts, Simons Bitzer & Associates and Endress+Hauser each earned a Salute Award.

Ambassadors of the Year are chamber volunteers who coach other chamber members and help make introductions to other business leaders. The 2013 winner, Kensill, is a commercial real estate broker. A Purdue University graduate, he has more than 25 years of experience in commercial real estate in central and southern Indiana.

The Chamber Member of the Year Award recognizes a committed businessperson who goes to extraordinary lengths to promote the chamber. Vaughan, a marketing consultant, graduated from Butler University and began her marketing career with Melvin Simon and Associates, now Simon Property Group, where she wrote and produced the television and radio advertising for the company’s malls across the country.

The Pride and Progress Award celebrates a business that made outstanding design efforts in the construction of a new business or renovation of an existing property. Randy Faulkner & Associates Inc. received the 2013 award for their work on Polk Place, a former canning factory built in 1907. The renovation took more than 16 months. About 80 percent of the original structure was retained during the renovation.

The Chamber’s Salute Awards recognize member businesses that demonstrate success in one or more areas, including growth and stability, commitment to quality, creative/unique solutions to challenges or entrepreneurial spirit.

Pilsung ATA Martial Arts, the Salute small business winner, started in 2003 in a single room with six students and has grown to occupy a 3,100-square-foot facility with more than 140 students ages 4 to 64 and has grown staff by 50 percent.

Simons Bitzer & Associates, the Salute Award winner in a medium business category, has earned double-digit percentage growth during the past three years. The CPA firm also maintains industry-leading employee retention.

Endress+Hauser, the large business category Salute award winner, is a globally active, family-owned business that develops, manufactures and sells sensors, components and systems that process information for industrial processes. The Greenwood-based U.S. operations is the most profitable sales organization — both as a percentage of sales and absolute dollars, according to a statement from the chamber. The company is becoming one of two pre-eminent suppliers in the U.S. market with net sales of $500 million. In the last three years, they have experienced an 82 percent increase in net sales, growing from $118 million to $250 million.
