It didn’t take the Center Grove football team long to establish itself as the top team in the IHSAA’s biggest class.

Four games, to be exact.

Receiving 13 of a possible 15 first-place votes, the Trojans are No. 1 in the new Class 6A poll. They climbed one spot after last week’s 14-13 win against Metropolitan Interscholastic Conference rival Pike.

Center Grove (4-0) took the top spot from MIC rival Lawrence Central, which fell to No. 4 following Friday’s 17-7 loss against MIC opponent Carmel.

The Trojans are at Lawrence Central (3-1) on Friday.

In Class 5A, Whiteland cracked the top 10 with last week’s win at previously unbeaten Franklin. The Warriors (3-1) are No. 7 in the new poll.
