Franklin College broke it open in the second half and went on to post a 61-50 victory in a Heartland Conference women’s basketball contest at Bluffton Saturday afternoon.
The Grizzlies completed a sweep of both meetings with the Beavers after having topped Bluffton by four points Dec. 1 in Franklin.
Franklin improved to 9-3 in the HCAC, remaining in a second place tie with Hanover, and moved to 15-4 overall. The Beavers fell to 4-8 in the conference and 9-10 overall.
Sophomore guard Katie Dale, a Roncalli High School graduate, scored a career-high 17 points off the bench to pace the Grizzlies.
Dale hit 4 of 6 shots from 3-point range and made a pair of free throws to give Franklin a 16-point lead with 10:31 remaining after Franklin had built a four-point halftime lead.
Senior center Jess Prewett added 14 points for the Grizzlies, while junior forward Krista Schott had 10 and sophomore forward Lindsey Dall chipped in 10.
Senior point guard Annie Tarkington contributed seven points and eight assists for the Grizzlies.
Franklin’s defense put the clamps on Bluffton, holding the hosts to just 27.1 percent shooting from the field.
Freshman guards Taylor Whitaker and Brooke Ruffer led the Beavers with 17 and 10 points, respectively. Ruffer pulled down a game-best 15 rebounds for Bluffton.
