Atterbury commander to speak at luncheon

Franklin College will have its annual Veterans Day luncheon and lecture Nov. 8.

The lunch will be at 11:30 a.m. in the Branigin Room of the Napolitan Student Center on the Franklin College campus.

The guest speaker will be Col. Ivan Denton, the garrison commander at Camp Atterbury Joint Maneuver Training Center.

Denton will talk about the new role Camp Atterbury has assumed since the sequestration in March by the federal government.

Denton enlisted in 1982 as an infantryman in the Indiana Army National Guard. Four years later, he received his commission and graduated from Indiana University. He earned a master’s degree in strategic studies from Army War College.

The cost for the luncheon is $10 per person. Cost for veterans, active duty military, Franklin College alumni, employees, trustees and students is $5 per person.

Guests must reserve seating no later Nov. 4 by calling 738-8185.
