Local high school students are invited to compete in Franklin Rotary’s speech contest, planned for Feb. 11.
To participate, students will present a four- to six-minute memorized speech on leadership and service and Rotary’s principles of truth, fairness, goodwill and community benefit.
The Franklin Rotary speech contest will be at noon during a luncheon on the Franklin College campus.
There will be a $100 cash prize for the first-place winner. The winner will compete in the Southern Indiana district competition at 11 a.m. March 1. That event will be conducted at the Indiana Memorial Union State Room East on the Indiana University campus.
District awards are $1,000 for the winner and two $500 awards for the second- and third-place finishers. The top three will present their speeches in April at the district conference luncheon in Terre Haute.
