Applications sought for youth grants

Grant applications are being accepted for youth service projects.

The Youth Philanthropy Initiative of Johnson County will offer grants between $50 and $500. Grants are awarded to nonprofit organizations including youth groups, community organizations, schools, classrooms, religious organizations and other nonprofits.

The programs must be youth-led from proposal writing to project implementation, address a community need in Johnson County, bring together diverse people and organizations, have a learning component on philanthropy and increase the development assets of young people.

Grant applications are available online at www.jccf.org and are due March 1.

Applications may be submitted to the foundation office, 398 S. Main St., Franklin, or by email to Kim Minton at kimm@jccf.org by the deadline.

Yogurt shop’s sales

to benefit local school

Residents and families wanting to help raise money for North Grove Elementary School can help by getting a sweet treat next month.

The school is partnering with Ella’s Frozen Yogurt & More for a Dining to Donate day Feb. 6.

From 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Ella’s Frozen Yogurt & More, 520 N. State Road 135 in Greenwood, will donate 20 percent of customers’ purchases to the school when the customer mentions North Grove.

All Center Grove elementary schools are competing to bring in the most sales on their school’s Dining to Donate Wednesday. The school with the most donations will get a double donation from Ella’s Frozen Yogurt & More.

Sessions provide leaders with development skills

Leadership Johnson County is accepting applications for the 2013 leadership program.

The nine-month series that provides personal and professional development to businesses and nonprofit groups of all sizes.

Applications received by March 1 will receive a $50 discount on tuition. All applications are due by March 20.

Information sessions about the program will be conducted throughout February. For more information, contact Tandy Shuck at tshuck@franklincollege.edu or by calling 738-8264.

  • 7:30 a.m. Thursday, Tilson Conference Center, 1530 American Way No. 200, Greenwood
  • 8 a.m. Feb. 12, Bargersville Fire Headquarters, 3991 N. State Road 135
  • 6 p.m. Feb. 26, Edinburgh Public Library, 119 W. Main Cross St.
  • 6 p.m. Feb. 27, Trafalgar library, 424 S Tower St.
