All aboard: Help needed for bicentennial train

Follow Daily Journal:

The Indiana Historical Society is in need of volunteers to help with the upcoming Bargersville stop of the Indiana Bicentennial Train.

A public information meeting will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Bargersville Municipal Building, 24 N. Main St.

The Bicentennial Train will travel to Bargersville and be open to the community from Oct. 9 to 11.

Made up of three 65-foot-long renovated Amtrak freight cars, the train will feature a free traveling exhibition in celebration of the state’s 200th anniversary.

Volunteers are needed for all three days to help with everything from crowd control to guiding school groups to parking.

Shifts will last 3½ to 4 hours, and volunteers may sign up for individual time slots or full days.

For more information on the train or to register in advance as a volunteer, go to indianahistory.org/train or call 232-1882.
