Accident injures driver, backs up rush-hour traffic

Follow Daily Journal:

One person was injured and two roads were closed after an accident Wednesday in the Center Grove area.

Police had to shut down southbound traffic about 5:15 p.m. on State Road 135 and eastbound traffic on Stones Crossing Road so emergency workers could get an injured person out of one vehicle and into an ambulance, White River Township Fire Department Chief Jeremy Pell said.

One of the drivers suffered neck and back injuries and was taken by ambulance to Community Hospital South in Indianapolis, Pell said. The person’s name and condition were not immediately available, but the injuries were not considered life-threatening. No one else was injured, Pell said.

The roads were reopened after about 15 minutes, but the crash caused traffic backups during rush hour, he said.
