Four Johnson County high school students were among 81 seniors who were awarded college scholarships from Roche Diagnostics and Indiana Blood Center.
The recipients include Brittany Ray of Center Grove High School; Derrick Hartman from Central Nine Career Center; Anna Johnson of Greenwood Christian Academy; and Amanda Basham of Whiteland Community High School.
Recipients were nominated by their administrators by participating in two blood drives during the 2012-13 academic school year. Their efforts helped supply lifesaving blood to Indiana hospitals and earned them a $618 scholarship and red cords to be worn during graduation ceremonies.
Each student plans to study science, math, technology or a health-related field at an Indiana college or vocational school.
