4 file for school board posts as deadline nears

Follow Daily Journal:

Four more people filed for school board seats Thursday, creating two contested races in southern Johnson County districts.

Stephen Scott will challenge the incumbent for the Hensley Township seat on the Nineveh-Hensley-Jackson school board. Scott recently had filed a petition to stop the school district from building a $10 million expansion to the intermediate school that would house prekindergarten through second grade. He’ll challenge Judy Misiniec, who is running again.

Two more people filed to run for Edinburgh’s two Blue River Township seats, and voters will now have to select two out of three candidates. Incumbent Guy Hardin and newcomer Terry Taylor both filed Thursday. Kim Weddle filed earlier this week to run again for her seat.

Justin Lollar also will seek another term as an at-large candidate on the Edinburgh school board. No one else has filed for the seat.

School board filing ends at noon today. All of the vacancies on the ballot have been filed with at least one candidate.
