4-H’ers compete to collect food donations

Follow Daily Journal:

Local 4-H clubs are challenging the county to collect food donations during the week of the Johnson County Fair.

Residents can drop-off canned goods from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. the entire week of the fair, July 14 to 20, at the tent west of the fair office. The fairgrounds are at 250 Fairground St., Franklin.

The 4-H clubs are competing in a food drive. After all donations are gathered from them, the food will be weighed, and the public will be challenged to exceed the amount of the club’s donations.

All proceeds will be split evenly among The Refuge, The Interchurch Food Pantry and the Lord’s Locker.

Fair visitors who bring in three or more nonperishable items will receive a coupon from local vendors.
