30-year sentence in Center Grove couple’s beating

A teen has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for robbing a Center Grove area couple at gunpoint and leaving a man with serious injuries.

Marcos Arteaga, 19, Indiana­polis, pleaded guilty to battery resulting in bodily injury, a Class A felony, and was sentenced by a judge.

Arteaga and another man broke into the home of Swati and Anil Jain in June 2009, hiding until the couple went to bed and then charging into their bedroom.

Arteaga punched Anil Jain, then 56, in the face and broke his eye socket, Prosecutor Brad Cooper said. Another man attacked Swati Jain, then 53, dragging her around the house looking for money.
