Three people were taken to the hospital after a three-car collision near State Road 37 and County Line Road on Monday.
J.R. Sulek, 32, Greenwood, was driving south on State Road 37 near County Line Road at about 6:30 p.m. and struck a car driven by Jane Flanders, 56, Westfield. The crash sent Sulek’s car into a vehicle driven by Lorenzo Amezcua, 67, Greenwood, according to a report from the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office.
Sulek told police that he was driving in the left lane of State Road 37 and had the green light when Flanders’ vehicle appeared in the intersection going westbound, according to the report.
Flanders was taken to Community Hospital South after complaining of chest pain and remains there in stable condition, hospital spokeswoman Lynda de Widt said. Police said she seemed confused and was unsure of which direction she was traveling. She repeatedly said she had the green light and did not run into anyone, the report said.
A child in Amezcua’s vehicle was taken to Community Hospital South. Sulek also went to Community Hospital South after complaining of chest pain, but was taken there by his wife, according to the report. Sulek was treated and released, de Widt said.
