Two local students have received scholarships that will cover the cost of their college tuition for four years.
Trent Tatlock, of Edinburgh Community High School, and Hollis VanFossen, of Center Grove High School, will each receive full tuition to the Indiana college of their choice, as well as a $900 annual stipend for books and equipment. Both students are the Johnson County Community Foundation 2013 Lilly Endowment Community Scholars, a news release said.
The scholarships are part of a statewide Lilly Endowment initiative to help Indiana students reach higher levels of education. Tatlock, the son of Todd and Julie Tatlock, plans to study chemistry and take pre-med courses while in college. VanFossen, daughter of Mark and Brenda VanFossen, plans to attend Anderson University to study nursing, the release said.
This is the 16th year the Johnson County Community Foundation has administered the scholarship program. Applicants were selected based on volunteer community service, academic preparation and performance, leadership and good character, the release said.
