Two Franklin residents were taken to hospitals after an accident.

Wilford Burke, 77, was taken to Indiana University Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, where he was listed in good condition Friday. Anthony Sanchez, 31, was taken to Johnson Memorial Hospital in Franklin, where he was treated and released.

Burke was driving north on Graham Road near Paul Hand Road about 3:15 p.m. Wednesday. He tried to pass another vehicle and then struck Sanchez’s vehicle, which was heading south, according to a Johnson County Sheriff’s Office report.

Sanchez’s vehicle rolled over multiple times before stopping in a field west of Graham Road, and Burke’s vehicle also skidded into the field, the report said.

Franklin firefighters helped remove Burke from his vehicle before taking him to the hospital.

Burke suffered a facial fracture in the accident, and Sanchez had cuts on his arms and hands, the report said.
