A pair of Johnson County high school seniors were selected as two of the state’s best students based on their accomplishments in the classroom and community.
Center Grove senior Jack Zhang and Franklin senior Madi Kareta were two of 36 students selected as Regional Academic All-Stars as part of a program of the Indiana Association of School Principals.
Zhang was one of two students to receive a $500 scholarship from Indiana University. Every accredited public and private school in the state was eligible to nominate a student.
Students were nominated based on several factors, including their SAT or ACT scores, and their grade-point average. The courses each student has taken, their academic accomplishments, their extracurricular activities and community service also were considered in the nomination process.
The organization also honored 40 students as Indiana Academic All-Stars. The students were honored Wednesday during a luncheon at the Indiana Roof Ballroom in Indianapolis.
