‘Hope Flies’ fundraiser to honor Greenwood girl

An event will raise money for mitochondrial disease in honor of a Greenwood girl.

The event Sept. 14, Hope Flies Stars for Audrey, is named for 4-year-old Audrey Howe and will benefit the Foundation for Mitochondrial Medicine to fund treatment-oriented research and awareness. Audrey is the daughter of Katy and Jason Howe of Greenwood.

The event will begin at 5 p.m. at SS. Francis and Clare Church, 5901 Olive Branch Road in the Center Grove area. This family-oriented night will feature raffle items and a marionette show for children and will finish at 8 p.m. with a lantern display to honor Audrey and increase awareness for mitochondrial disease.

Admission is $10 for children ages 3-9, $15 for adults and children 10 and older, and $65 for a family pack. Attendees may also purchase lanterns for $10 each and T-shirts for $20 for adult sizes and $10 for children sizes. Tickets, lanterns and T-shirts can be ordered online at bit.ly/StarsforAudrey.

Registration closes Friday.
