    UNITED NATIONS - The head of the U.N. nuclear agency pushed back on Thursday against critics questioning the wisdom of letting Iranian experts take samples meant to help determine whether their own country clandestinely worked in the past on atomic arms, saying he is convinced the process was faultless.

    VIENNA - In a story Sept. 20 about a trip to Iran by the head of the U.N. nuclear agency, The Associated Press erroneously referred to the place he was visiting as an Iranian nuclear site. In fact, it is a military site where some believe nuclear weapons work may have occurred.

    WASHINGTON - The Obama administration began carrying out the Iran nuclear deal Thursday as time expired on Republican efforts to derail it, appointing a senior diplomat to ensure that Tehran moves further away from bomb-making capability and outlining a months-long process before Western nations will start easing economic sanctions.
